Since the roadworks on the A8, a lot of traffic has been diverting through Raubling. Anyone who drives to work in the morning, takes the children to school or wants to go shopping in the afternoon notices it every day. We talk about it a lot. With the new traffic map you can now see it as well.

What the map shows

🚦 The current situation For every road section in the municipality you can see how fast traffic is flowing right now: green means free-flowing, yellow and orange slow-moving, red congestion. The values are measured anew every 15 minutes.

⏪ Looking back Every measurement is stored. You can select a day and move through the times of day with the slider or play back the whole day in time-lapse. This way you can see, for example, when the congestion built up yesterday afternoon and cleared again.

📊 Analysis over periods Where does traffic back up regularly? Analyse, for example, all weekdays between 3 pm and 7 pm. The map then shows which roads get tight and how often.

🔎 Click an individual road Shows the measured speed, the speed in free-flowing traffic and the pattern over the last hours.

Where the data comes from

The speeds come from TomTom and are based on anonymised movement data from navigation devices, smartphones and connected vehicles. Individual persons or vehicles cannot be identified in it. Measurement has been running since 2 October 2026, so the look back becomes more meaningful every day. The data shows how fast traffic is flowing, not how many vehicles are on the road. (The map itself is currently only available in German.)

Why I did it

Good decisions on the town council need good foundations. On the subject of through traffic we have so far relied mainly on impressions and individual counts. A map that measures around the clock and can be traced back makes the discussion more factual: where exactly is the problem, at what times, and does a measure actually help? I built the map privately and on a voluntary basis. It costs the municipality nothing.
